Terraso’s LandPKS Soil ID Bears First Fruit

By Amaya Webster

The Terraso team has been working hard to finish the first release of the Land Potential Knowledge System (LandPKS) Soil ID App. We are excited to announce that “Soil ID – US” is now available for download in the Apple and Google stores.

While still in its infancy, the app already provides U.S.-based users with an easy-to-use tool for soil identification. Whether you are a seasoned agricultural professional or a community steward dedicated to sustainable land management, this app will equip you with the knowledge and insights needed to start making informed decisions about your land.

Key Features:

  • Soil Identification – Discover the soil type and ecological site description (ESD) of a site by measuring key soil properties such as texture, color, and rock fragments.
  • Projects – Group and configure multiple sites and collaborate on data collection with a team. Managers can set required data inputs, user roles, and more.
  • Notes – Add multiple searchable notes per site and share them with your team.
  • Custom Soil Depths – Define soil depths according to what is observed at a site, or configure consistent depths for all the sites in a project.

Upcoming additions to the LandPKS Soil ID family will include support for any location worldwide, offline capabilities, multiple languages, and a web data portal. In the meantime, we invite you to explore the current Soil ID app during this soft launch phase and provide feedback. Your insights will help us continue to refine and enhance the app, ensuring it meets your needs and those of our diverse user community.
